Marquette University is a private college located in the heart of Milwaukee. This research college was established in 1881 and is ranked as one of the top three colleges in Wisconsin. The Commons is one of the 10 residence halls on campus and was opened in 2018. This residence hall is a home away from home for 890 students. The two residential towers are joined by a grand dining hall and shared community spaces complete with fireplace lounges, study areas, multi-purpose spaces, a theater and a chapel. With hundreds of students in and out of the building throughout the day and night, providing proper illumination outside the residence hall was imperative to ensure the safety of the residents.
Wagner supplied the Commons with several Lumenrail® system variations in 1.90” diameter, schedule 40, stainless steel pipe. ADA compliant, wall-mounted helical railing was provided for the dining hall entry ramp, as well as a complimentary embedded post-mount configuration on the four flights of grand stairs leading up to the hall. The dorm entry stairs received embedded single flight rails with our Lumenpost™ system with integrated driver enclosures to negate the need for remote electrical enclosures. Lumenlinear™ symmetric and asymmetric luminaires were used throughout, powered at 4W/ft in a comfortable 3000 K CCT. These wet location-rated fixtures are a state-of-the-art, low-voltage LED illuminated railing solution that provides exceptional lighting performance for optimal visibility on stairs, ramps and pathways. With the ability to choose between various color temperatures and outputs, Lumenlinear is a highly flexible and practical solution that can add beauty and illumination to any institution.
