Quality is at the center of everything we do here at Wagner—quality in our people, our product and in our performance. So, when we heard the news that our Contract Metal Manufacturing unit (CMM) earned an upgraded quality management system rating by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)—achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification—we couldn’t have been more proud.
Intended for businesses that want to showcase their capabilities in product production and service, ISO 9001:2015 certification is granted only to companies who consistently improve their quality management systems, providing excellent customer service while maintaining the exacting standards they have established. Because of the dedicated management systems already in place throughout the company, Wagner has been certified to ISO standards for many years and has maintained ISO:9001.2008 certification since our last upgrade in 2009. Now, with reevaluation in August of this year, Wagner has been upgraded to ISO 9001:2015 certification—an achievement we are extremely proud of.
Manager of Quality Services, Janice Larsen, is no stranger to the quality processes at Wagner. “While CMM is the only ISO:9001.2015 certified section of Wagner, we can ensure that the entire company runs on identical quality standards,” stated Larsen, “Our internal team continually runs audits in order to keep Wagner at certification level throughout our entire organization.” She is confident this new certification, which pushes both data and risk-oriented thinking and strategy, not only reflects the high standards of CMM, but the company as a whole.
ISO certification is reliant on eight principles: customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, system approach to management, continuous improvement, factual approach to decision making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships. These principles are well-aligned with our approach to business, and the standards required for ISO:9001.2015 certification only help to streamline our quality management system.
By adhering to the standards of the ISO 2015 update, CMM can better capture the voice of the customer, continually providing the utmost satisfaction in products and services. In addition to enhancing customer service, this new certification will positively impact overall performance throughout the organization. At Wagner, we believe great customer service, quality products and increased effectiveness are byproducts of a solid quality management system. With the standards that ISO 2015 has in place, our QMS will ultimately drive change and drive efficiencies.
For their ongoing commitment to efficiency, quality, service and safety, hats off to our CMM division—and a big thank you to the International Organization for Standardization for recognizing it as such. We look forward to how the ISO:9001.2015 certification will allow the CMM division, and the company as a whole, to flourish.
