New Traditional Style Wall Mount Handrail Brackets Now in Stock

We have updated one of our standard components dimensionally to meet current Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and International Building Code (IBC) requirements.

This new design matches the one we have used for this style of cast aluminum and stainless steel bracket. Until now, we have not had this design available for our cast, ductile iron, wall-mount handrail bracket.

The ADA and IBC require a clearance of 1-1/2″ minimum between the wall and the handrail and a clearance of 1-1/2″ minimum between the underside of the handrail and the horizontal bracket arm.

There is an exception for the vertical clearance—for each 1/2″ of additional perimeter dimension above 4″, the vertical clearance dimension of 1-1/2″ shall be reduced by 1/8″.

These wall-mount handrail brackets are available with a projection of 2-1/2″ or 3-1/4″ between the wall and the center of the handrail. The choice of wall-mount handrail bracket will vary depending on the handrail size and the clearance requirement. Please note that NFPA 101 has a minimum clearance requirement between the wall and handrail of 2-1/4″—use the 3-1/4″ to center wall-mount handrail bracket to avoid challenges by the fire marshal.
